Text Box: Project Summary: QES developed, implemented and completed a research plan to determine the effects of longitudinal joint density on the performance life of asphalt concrete pavements within the Reno/Sparks, Nevada area. Work included the development of a sampling and testing plan including 52 roadway projects to evaluate the density of the longitudinal joint, the distress condition of the joint and the overall condition of the pavement. Evaluations and results were analyzed based on pavement type (new construction or overlays), pavement thickness, construction methods and traffic rates. Final report included documentation of phases of the project and included recommended modifications to the current construction specifications.
