Text Box: Project Specifics: Text Box: Office Locations: Text Box: Pavement Management Text Box: The QES project team developed a unique distress rating methodology to take advantage of asset inventory and right-of-way digital images in the application of a pavement management system for secondary roadways. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) had contracted the collection of digital images for asset inventory and right-of-way purposes. Since the pavement distresses were clearly visible in these images, the developed rating methodology was sufficient to quantify the distress types and extent on secondary roads using forward looking digital images. Rater distress identification training was enhanced by the creation of an interactive training CD that each fully identified the identification, measurement, recordation and reporting methods used for each distress. QES implemented the methodology in the distress identification for 4500 lane-miles of roadway in three Virginia Counties. Individual and summary reports were developed in a Microsoft Access database. All results were also presented in graphical form utilizing ArcView software.
