Text Box: Project Specifics: Text Box: Office Locations: Text Box: Quality Assurance Text Box: Pennsylvania State Universities was contracted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to develop quality monitoring plans and control limits for their statewide pavement management program. PennDOT desires to collect digital pavement images, from which pavement distress is determined. QES assisted Dr. Stoffels in developing the quality monitoring process for digital imagery collection, distress ratings and roughness measurements. QES provided independent distress ratings using our highly qualified rating staff for twenty control section pavements. In addition, we performed the trial quality monitoring plan, as would be expected by PennDOT personnel. Comments and suggestions were feed back to Dr. Stoffels who then finalized the plan for PennDOT. Our expertise in the collection, processing and rating of digital pavement images proved invaluable to PennState and PennDOT in the development of their system.
